BIRD, BYRD posted by Nina Bird on Thursday, January 8, 1998

I am looking for John BIRD/BYRD, father of Thomas BIRD/BYRD b. 1778 d. 1845 Ky. My only clue of the father of Thomas is that his second son was named John M. BIRD and in the 1880 census record, another one of his sons shows his father being from NC.   "FTM Census Index: Colonial America 1607-1789" shows in the index that there was a John  BIRD in Bute Co. NC in 1771. Any help will be appreciated.

ELLIS, PERKINS, TALLEY posted by Georgia Cummins on Thursday, January 8, 1998

I am looking for the parents of Stephen Talley. He was born in VA in 1788 but was brought to Warren County, NC at a young age. I think his parents are Joel TALLEY and Martha ELLIS, they were mar in Warren County in 1786. Can anyone tell me if I am correct? I know there were alot of Talleys in Warren County at that time. I visited the library there about 10 years ago and found some research that had been done on the PERKINS/TALLEY famililies. The library closed before I could get all the information I needed. I would appreciate it if anyone can answer one way or the other on this. Thanks,

FLETCHER, SMITH, TUCKER posted by basketweve on Monday, January 19, 1998

My great great grandparents John W. FLETCHER (b NC 1812) and Candis G SMITH (b North or South Carolina ca 1814) were married in Warren County 27 March 1844 (from County records). This is virtually all I know about them before their appearance in McMinn County, TN census, 1850. It's possible that he was married before his marriage to Candis--there is a Warren County record of a marriage between John FLETCHER and Elizabeth TUCKER in 1830. Don't know if this is my John Fletcher, however it seems possible because several of John Fletcher's children were born well before marriage to Candis. Fletcher
children:

John H Fletcher, b 1836;
Lewis D. Fletcher, b 1839;
Mary Paline Fletcher, b 1839;
Albert Fletcher, b 1841;
Willmia Ann Fletcher, b 1844;
Elizabeth Fletcher, b 1845;
Neal Fletcher, b 1848;
Wilton Owen Fletcher, b 1848; all born NC;
and Patrick Fletcher, b 1852 in TN.

Late 1850s the family moved on to Wright County, Missouri, where descendants remain.

Is anyone researching a Fletcher family in Warren County or nearby?

HURT, PRICE, WHITE posted by Tom O'Neil on Monday, January 19, 1998

William Hurt PRICE, b. 31 Mar 1755, Carolina Co., VA, d. 25 Aug 1835, Green Co., KY. He was a Revolutionary War veteran, enlisting in Warren County, NC, listed as private with the Virginia Line. On 7 Apr 1780, probably in Warren Co. he m. Mary PRICE, dgtr of William Price and Elizabeth Wright. By 1782 this family was in Green Co., KY, (in 1802, Adair Co., KY, was formed from north part of Green Co.). It appears that the PRICE family was in the Adair part. HURT, in Adair Co., KY, some HURT surnames are included in Marriage Records. So, possibly William Hurt PRICE's mother was a HURT. Records show that there was quite a movement of families from NC to KY soon after the Rev. War. WHITE: It is also possible that a WHITE family moved from Warren Co. to Adair Co. KY. Matthew G. WHITE, m. Lucy PRICE, dgtr of William Hurt PRICE, in Adair Co., KY in 1803

Any information on these families would be sincerely appreciated.
