CAPPS, HULL, KING posted by Eunice Boucher on Saturday, January 9, 1999

I am looking for information on Emma CAPPS who married first James HULL, then Charles KING and lastly, Elijah MOORE. There is an E.A. CAPPS listed in the Warren County census with Whitmell CAPPS and I am trying to find out if that is Emma. I have information on Whitmell and his ancestors but have not been able to make a positive connection with Emma. She was in Halifax County in 1895 and was the mother of my grandmother, Sarah HULL. She later married Elijah MOORE, who is also in my line of ancestors - Lemuel MOORE, Elijah's father, was the brother of my ancestor William Rial MOORE. Thanks. euniceboucher@hotmail.com

HOGGOOD posted by Joseph A. Hoggood, Jr. on Saturday, January 9, 1999

I am trying to find information on my paternal ancestry. I and my father, great-uncle, uncle, and brother all grew up in the Petersburg, VA area.

The earliest information I have, with confidence, is as follows:

JOSEPH LEE HOGGOOD (b.unknown, unknown; d.unknown): paternal grandfather, disappeared from PETERSBURG, VA around 1958.

I have traced back the HOGGOOD name, via web surname searches, as follows:

JOSEPH HOGGOOD (1840-1849 census): NC, county unknown
ELIZABETH HOGGOOD (1860-1869 census): NC, county unknown
JESSIE H. HOGGOOD (1860-1969 census): NC, county unknown
MARTHA HOGGOOD (1882-1920, Warren County, NC birth records.
Parents: Barton Clara & John, Birthdate?: 07-DEC-1904)

My great-aunt on my father's side tells me that the HOGGOOD's came from BERTIE county, NC but I've yet to locate them although HOGGARD sounds unusually similar. I have another relative that tells me the HOGGOOD's came from WARREN county, NC.

My paternal uncle says he has traced a railway line in the 1800's from eastern NC through to SUSSEX county, VA. and has seen some evidence of HOGGOOD's in SUSSEX county, VA.

Thanks in advance for your help.
