Teresa:

Below is a success story you might want to include on the Warren County
website:
========

For five years now, my parents and I have been researching the Alfred J.
Harris genealogy in Warren County.  This research proved challenging.  With
the exception of my Harris branch, little was known about our ancestor or the
siblings and their descendants.  Living two states away complicated our access
to the North Carolina archives and Warrenton Courthouse records.  However, I
diligently posted my queries to the Warren County, Afrigeneas, Rootsweb, and
other websites for those five years hoping that someone would make a
connection and respond.  Well, it finally happened!  A cousin, Sam Mills, Jr.,
curious to know what he might find on the web about our (g)ggrandfather,
Alfred J. Harris, searched for Grandpap Alfred's name.  Viola!  One of the
postings I had placed on the Warren County, USGenWeb came up in his search.
Excited that he had made this discovery, he telephoned his sister, Stephanie
Trice, who contacted me via e-mail in April of this year (1998).

Since then, Stephanie and I have met and traded various information about our
families.  This past Labor Day I traveled with Steph to visit relatives I had
never met.  It was a wonderful first meeting!  They provided an impressive
oral history to further our research and showed me the area where our family
once, and still do live.  Warren County certainly is beautiful country!  Since
that meeting, information on the family keeps developing.  To view what we
have accomplished thus far on our family genealogy, visit the Harris website
at URL:  http://members.aol.com/heritage2/Harris/Harris.htm.

The meeting also prompted us to organize our first Harris family reunion.  Our
Reunion will be held in commemoration of Alfred J. Harris and his brother,
Richard Harris, and their descendants.  This event will occur the weekend of
July 9-11, 1999 near Warren County (Henderson).  Information about the reunion
can be found at URL: http://members.aol.com/kinfoks/page2/index.htm

We hope our connection inspires fellow Warren County researchers and others to
persevere and continue to strive in making family connections.  The Internet
does work!
